Mx. Genevieve Smith

Genevieve completed her BSW, MSW, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her research interests include: Social Justice, Mental Health Literacy, Stigma Reduction, and Epistemology. Throughout her time at UNC Greensboro, Genevieve held a number of roles in a variety of campus departments including the Office of Comprehensive Transition and Post-secondary Education’s Integrative Community Studies program, the School of Education’s Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations Department, and now the Informatics and Analytics program housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. Genevieve gained experience as a student needs advocate, academic advisor, cohort case manager, instructor of record, administrative support, interdepartmental liaison, internship liaison, and event coordinator. She continues to hone her student support and inclusion skills through university trainings and initiatives such as: SAFE Zone 1.0, SAFE Zone 2.0, Trans Zone, Green Zone, Adult Mental Health First Aid. Genevieve is affiliated with several UNC Greensboro organizations including: Delta Alpha Pi, Chapter Zeta Phi (2021),  Phi Alpha, Chapter Theta Iota (2016), Kappa Omicron Nu, Chapter Omicron Alpha Kappa (2015), Phi Beta Delta, Chapter Eta Delta (2015), Phi Alpha, Chapter Iota Nu (2014); in addition to the professional organizations: League of Women Voters of the Piedmont Triad (2018), the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (2017), and the North Carolina chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (2014). In her spare time Genevieve enjoys relaxing with her kittens Thorn, Pazuzu and Púca.
